There's a statement circulating the conservative space that seems to resonate well among White Conservatives: the notion that Black Conservatives are, in fact, not Black but simply American.

It's an ironic statement, for these Black Republicans KNOW they are different. They KNOW they are Black. But they don't want White Conservatives to feel threatened or intimated by their Blackness.

So, they make these stupid statements to ease any possible "racial" tension.

But as the decades progressed, younger Black voters sought more economic tangibles. As new demands emerge, Conscious Black Conservatives are presented with new opportunities to sell conservative politics that protects what Black America builds. If you take a moment to digest Sonnie Johnson's content, you hear her say repeatedly, "The Civil Rights Era is DEAD! Something else will fill the vacuum."

And I would like to expound upon that statement here.

Most of us are familiar with the likes of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton. We are familiar with their grassroots, civil rights work and how their presence proved influential to Black Americans in some way.

In a former lesson, I taught why, for many folks, Sharpton is an icon because he brings Black stories to mainstream audiences. Like him or not, if a Black mother witnesses the police brutalizing her son, she can count of Sharpton to give that story attention.

Jackson and Sharpton are just examples of what we mean by Civil Rights Era politics: the idea that Black Americans continue to strive for civil liberties that other Americans exercise freely.

And we have to ask ourselves, is there any civil issue left to fight for? Are Black Americans still fighting for the rights to life, liberty, and happiness? Are Black Americans still considered second-class citizens in this country? Are Black Americans overwhelmingly confronted with overt racism that prevents them from achieving success?

Let me begin this lesson with an understanding of Conscious Conservatism, a term I coined after launching The Fifteen 20 Rise content.

Conscious Conservatism is based on the belief that spiritual laws and principles guide our human behavior and interaction. As humans, we conserve these truths and implement these values in culture, society, and politics.

Conscious Conservatives use our words to tear down godless ideologies that rise up against our spiritual, conservative values; then we build or plant again in our communities so people thrive.

Conscious Conservatives empower. Even when we point out problems in our communities, we immediately present viable solutions WITH the people so each one prospers. We do so because we understand spiritual laws, which is higher-level thinking.

Conscious Conservatives are cognizant of the power of the blessing. We understand our words contain life or death; therefore, we use our words to bless — and not curse — fellow Americans. We don’t use our power, platforms, and voices to belittle people. We uplift, because we know our words shape our future and our world.

Conscious Conservatives understand we cannot help anyone if we are constantly bashing them. The Law of Sowing and Reaping is always in effect. Therefore, if we curse fellow Americans, we know a curse will come back on us. Therefore, we bless.

Conscious Conservatism invades the political space. Such Conservatives are not afraid to engage in topics most Americans want to address. Conscious Conservatives are beholden to neither Party, although we seek to take over the Republican one to provide political competition to individuals like Black American voters.

Simply put: Conscious Conservatism is an ideology based on moral conservative principles that focus on empowerment and progress in politics, culture, and society.
