In case you are new to my ministry and business, I'm Felecia Killings, the Founder of LiyahAmore University.
My mission is to equip God's writers with the tools they need to build powerful, profitable, life-changing writing ministries.
As one of His writers, you are influential to the great movement of God.
You have a gift and an anointing to change lives using your testimony.

And that's where I come in.
My purpose is to give you the training materials and resources that you need to thrive.
Being called to this area of ministry must be taken seriously; and therefore, you must be willing to accept the kind of training that will elevate you to your next level.
And that's what you find at LiyahAmore University.
Now, for today's Empowering Post, I want to continue with my teaching series on how to be most productive as a new Christian Author.
But for today's teaching, I want to give you another behind-the-scenes look at how I use certain strategies that keep my ministry moving forward.
And with today's teaching, I will address 6 different time-management strategies that have revolutionized my ministry. More specifically, I will show you how:
So, come join me today for this empowering lesson. And discover how you can make the most of each day when you start implementing strategies that have worked for me and many others.
It will bless you!
Time-Management Strategies for Writerpreneurs
I want to begin this lesson by teaching you a different perspective regarding time-management.
We know this skill is necessary for growth in any occupation.
And this is no different for you as the CEO of your writing ministry.
But time-management skills are not simply markers of a person who enjoys organization.
These skills demonstrate that one is a competent and true leader.
In fact, "successful leadership calls for mastery of details of the leader's position" (Think and Grow Rich, page 65, Kindle Version).
In other words, if you can't determine what must be done in order to see your work thrive, then you can't expect to succeed.
One of the primary reasons why certain leaders fail is because they lack the skills needed to manage or organize details.
They give little care to their business, and as such, their work suffers.
Don't be this way.
I want to encourage you to use your time wisely each day so that you are making strides towards your goals.
Again, this is the mark of a true leader.
And when other people see that you are capable of managing your own ministry, they will trust you to help them with their lives.
How Will You Manage Your Time?
The Internet has tens of thousands of articles that teach you effective time-management strategies for your life.
And what they present are great suggestions.
But I want to build upon the current research by showing you why these strategies have such a profound affect on me and others like me.
And these aren't suggestions that simply apply to us.
You can use them for yourself, and they will produce great results for you.
So, let's get into these six strategies.
1.) My morning begins at 5:30am each day, and this enhances my productivity.
Many people who observe full-time entrepreneurs make the assumption that because we work for ourselves, then we have the freedom to waste our days as we see fit.
I remember talking to a friend about running my business, and I mentioned to her that I wake up each morning at 5:30am to get things started.
She cringed at that thought.
She couldn't understand why anyone who had the privilege of waking up any time she wanted would allow herself to do so at such an early hour.
But I began sharing with her that during these quiet hours, I accomplish much more than I ever could if I decided to sleep in every day.
And here's why.
According to research, early risers display more persistent, conscientious, and proactive behavior than those who wake up later.
Furthermore, early risers tend to display less stress and are capable of handling negative situations more effectively.
The cause for such results stems from our willingness to sleep earlier in the day while also rising earlier in the morning.
On average, it's not uncommon for people like me to sleep 8-9 hours each day and still manage to get the most work done.
And that's one of the benefits that I have found.
5:30 am is the perfect hour for me, because it gives me the chance to think and reflect on what I must do for the day.
It also gives me the opportunity to spend time with the Holy Spirit without interruptions.
I'm a busy woman.
I run my virtual ministry full-time.
I am a mother.
And I homeschool my daughter at the same time.
It's very difficult to find quiet time with the Lord and with my own thoughts when I have so much going on during the day.
So, knowing that I will have a few hours in the early mornings is actually a huge benefit to me.
And because I use this time wisely and to my advantage, it helps me to maintain productivity throughout the day.
2.) After rising, I begin my day by reading empowering materials.
Since implementing this time-management strategy a couple of years ago, I've noticed a huge difference in the way I treat my writing ministry.
For one, my faith in the work has increased dramatically.
I no longer wonder whether or not the Lord will bless this ministry.
I know it.
And because I know it, I put forth the effort to see the results.
Reading various books has helped fuel my mental energy and my faith.
And it's one of the reasons why top entrepreneurs encourage their following to make reading a part of their daily routines.
Reading books that relate to one's business, lifestyle, spiritual growth, and more fundamentally changes our lives.
When we are feeling low and discouraged because something isn't working well, we can turn to various books that will give us the encouragement we need to move forward.
For me, it's not uncommon to read the same books over again each day until I have practically memorized the content.
Because I want that information to be stored in my subconscious mind, always being available to me when I need it most.
Not only do I read the Bible, which is the best manual for running a business and ministry.
But I readily turn to self-empowerment books such as:
These books have given me strength and knowledge when I could not acquire it from any other physical source.
And because the materials spoke to my own desires for success and massive growth, I readily apply their teachings to my life, and I have witnessed the results.
So, each morning when I rise, I take whatever lesson is taught to me (through the books) and I make it a part of my day.
Whether it's "be kind to your enemies," or "see yourself in physical possession of your dreams," no matter what, I apply it to my life.
And each time I do this, I am encouraged to continue building this virtual ministry that God gave to me.
Books are truly powerful, and if you want to thrive as a Christian Writerpreneur, then you must learn to acquire the right reading materials that will help you reach your goals.
3.) I set 2 major objectives a day and nothing more.
There are many people who think that creating a long list of things to do will make them productive.
But that's not true.
In fact, doing this can decrease your productivity, because you will be sorely disappointed when you realize that you can't accomplish everything in one day.
I used to do this to myself, and I often wondered why I felt terrible at the end of the day.
So, I decided to change that.
Instead of trying to complete 5 major tasks for my writing ministry, I decided to focus on 2 things, and to give them my all.
In my case, my daily routine requires that I compose an Empowering Blog Post for my audience AND to complete something on social media that will keep me connected with folks.
And each time I invest my energy in these two areas, I experience growth of some nature.
At times, my day will need to include other activities, but for the most part, I am looking to do 2 things really well each day over 10 things half-heartedly.
4.) I work until the tasks are done, no matter how late.
As a new Christian Author, there will be times when your work days will run for 10 hours and other times when you only need to work for 3 hours.
It all depends on the daily tasks that you must complete.
There are moments when a certain task requires that I give more time to it than others.
For example, composing a great blog post each day requires 2 hours of my day.
But if I also need to work on something else like a sales page for the website, then I know that I may have to spend 5 hours on that.
In any case, I maintain my productivity when I force myself to finish each task until they are completed, even if it means I have to work until 6:00 pm instead of the occasional 3:00 pm.
The reason is that I do not want to put off tomorrow what I could have finished today.
I don't want to waste any time, not when I have the power to make the most of it right now.
And as you grow in your writing ministry, you will want to commit to the same mental strategy.
Don't allow procrastination to stifle your growth.
If I made the choice to put certain tasks off for another day, I could potentially thwart my own growth, because each day carries with it an opportunity.
And if procrastination has its way in my ministry, then I have no one to blame but myself when I miss a great opportunity.
I've had this happen to me before.
There were moments when I knew I needed to create a service or product.
But because I put those projects off for a later date, I had prospects ask me to provide that service, only to be disappointed because I wasn't prepared for it.
That's why I say when you know you have something that needs to be done, do it until it is completed properly.
Because you never what tomorrow will bring.
So, it's best to be ready for it.
5.) I eat well, I exercise, and I take naps...and, boy, do I love a good nap!
I've read countless stories about new entrepreneurs who neglected to take care of their bodies the moment they decided to do their work full-time.
And their stories are not ones you want to emulate.
What typically happens once you enter your virtual ministry full-time is that you want to give all of your time to your business.
And quite often, this means grabbing food to eat that is quick and easy to consume.
The problem with that is most of the time, you're grabbing fast food or products that you won't spend much time prepping.
I want to advise against that strongly.
Your body will only be as good to you as you are to it.
And that means giving it the nutrition and rest it needs to recharge.
For me, I make it a point not to go to any fast food restaurant during the days when I have the most work to do.
Instead, I meal prep or I will cook a hot meal every day, because I love my body and I want my body to love me back.
I plan to be on this earth for another 80 years, and the only way that will happen is if I take care of it now.
And that means listening to its needs, eating the right foods that will keep it going, and giving it a good walk when it needs it.
And let me not forget the benefits of taking a nap each day.
Because I rise so early in the morning and I typically accomplish about 6 hours of work before noon hits, my mind is exhausted.
And I've found the best way to recharge and to get more done is to give myself a little break to snooze.
Again, these are measures and routines that I have implemented over the last couple of years, and they have helped me to be most productive.
6.) Lastly, I end my day by evaluating and reflecting on my progress.
This is really important, and I want to encourage you to do the same thing.
Consider using a journal to accomplish this.
When I am done with my day, I reflect on what I did and how I could have improved my performance.
Let's say my day included a consultation with a client.
To help me better my work, I reflect on what I liked and didn't like about the conversation.
I ask myself how I can provide better service and a better-quality customer experience, even if the client appreciated what I shared.
For me, it's important that I am constantly improving.
No, I'm not a perfectionist.
But I do enjoy rendering the best service that I can to God's writers.
This keeps me humble, and it also prepares me for the great things that are to come in the near future.
As you continue to walk in your calling as a Christian Author, you will want to do the same thing.
Always position yourself to assess your strengths and weaknesses, and always be honest.
If you can't do that, then ask someone to do it for you. (The Holy Spirit is the best Person to accomplish this.)
What you will discover is that over time, your writing ministry will become more perfect and complete.
It will be sharpened and impressive to your readers.
And when people on the outside see that you are constantly working to improve your ministry for them, then they will trust you all the more.
It's been my experience, and I know it is something that other entrepreneurs have also encountered.
So, now that you've had a chance to see how I create time-management strategies that work for me, start thinking about what you can implement for yourself.
If you know you struggle with procrastination, then create a schedule that you will commit to each day so you're not wasting time.
If you know you struggle with completing a task, then discipline yourself to not move forward on anything else until that task is completed.
Learn to be the master of yourself so you can be a blessing to others.
Again, this all goes back to your ability to be a good leader and a good steward over what the Lord has given to you.
And that's the lesson that I have for you, Christian Author.
I pray that today's teaching blessed you.
