Greetings Beloved,
Across the country, more and more Black Homeschool Families are giving credence to what can best be described as an authentic, grassroots Black Education Movement.
Black Homeschooling is the #1 winning strategy when it comes to marketing authentic conservatism to Black women moving forward. Not only will this empowering message draw more attention to conservative politics, but as more Republican states adopt Universal School Choice, we will witness more parents aligning with a Party that will ensure their homeschool programs have adequate and equitable funding.
It was 2012.
After a 10-month-long pregnancy, I found myself wondering which direction I’d take as a new mother. Do I secure a new job working outside the home? Do I return to the public school sector and resume my educational career? Do I leave my new daughter’s education in the hands of another teacher, who may or may not foster her intellect? How do I navigate this world of parenting and how will I ensure my child has the best training given my current financial status? These questions — and others — plagued my mind months prior to giving birth to my child. But once she was born, I knew I had to decide immediately my next course of action. A couple months after giving birth, I decided no other educator would give my tiny human the kind of training I could provide her. No other human would invest in her intellect the way I could. As such, I made the choice to homeschool my girl while developing a new career using the virtual market. And I have not looked back. It’s been 10 years since I first made that crucial education decision, and it has been one of the best choices for my tiny social empire. I am not alone in this thinking either, for homeschooling over the last few years has become a top choice for Black parents nationwide. According to data from the US Census Bureau’s Household Pulse Survey, there was a dramatic rise [in homeschooling] after the start of the pandemic from an estimated 5.4% of school-aged children homeschooling in spring 2020 to 11.1% the following school year. The number of Black families increased more than five times over – from 3.3% to 16.1% – a bigger jump than any other racial group. (Source)
Prior to the Pandemic, most Black parents saw homeschooling as a viable option for mostly wealthy families.
Progressive talking points further alienated Black parents from the homeschool wonderland by suggesting it was “a part of White Supremacy.” Here’s one example to prove my point: On Friday, MSNBC shared a tweet claiming that homeschooling is being driven by “the insidious racism of the American religious right.” While Anthea Butler, the opinion columnist who wrote the article referenced by the tweet, never used that specific phrase, her piece implies that homeschooling is a strategy used by white, evangelical parents to destroy public schooling and uphold racial segregation. (Source)
Butler’s comments extended further into the abyss of lunacy:
It should come as no surprise that evangelicals, fundamentalists and other religious conservatives have fought against public education since the U.S. Supreme Court’s 1954 decision in Brown v. Board of Education. The prospect of integrated schools led to the creation of many “segregation academies,” private schools designed to keep African American children and undesirable immigrant groups away from white children. But there was another, more insidious way to circumvent integration: homeschooling.
The challenge with Progressives is they are not always wrong in the history they reveal. They often provide accurate data to prove their statements correct.
However, their racial analysis and conclusions lose credibility when juxtaposed with Black Conservative Thought. You see, Progressives like Butler believe public education solves problems for Black youth. And any attempt to “defund” the public school system will result in a wider gap between Black and White students. However, the data simply do not match their analysis. In a recent article published by Robert Cherry, an American Enterprise Institute affiliate and author of the forthcoming book, The State of the Black Family, he argues: The dominant response to the recently-released NAEP Report Card on 4th and 8th grade proficiency scores has been to focus on the adverse effects of school closures: declining competencies, particularly for the lowest performing students. What is buried in the report is the continued alarmingly low black student scores on both reading and math sections and their inability to close the racial gap as they move from the 4th to 8th grade.
Upon further study, Cherry’s analysis points to the dysfunction within the Black family and “gun culture” in these Black communities as the source for these educational problems. But his interpretation is equally flawed considering new data prove Black families are far more in tact than previously known.
Black families are no more dysfunctional than White families. In fact, according to Pew Research (2023):
Crimes in our Black neighborhoods can be directly traced back to lack of educational and economic opportunities. Couple that with Progressives’ push to lower academic standards for Black children, we see why a new, more empowering solution is necessary. Enter Black Homeschooling. For clarity purposes, here is our working definition of the term. Black Homeschooling is the localized development of an empowering, specialized educational program for Black children, Black educators, and Black parents. Black Homeschooling teaches children how to foster Black Excellence in the social, political, and economic spheres. Black Families who adopt homeschooling as an educational choice practice autonomy from a Progressive educational system that often stifles Black students’ emotional, intellectual, spiritual, physical, and financial well-being. In essence, Black Homeschooling embraces the unique qualities found in the Black American Experience while delivering wholesome, holistic curricula that prepare Black youth for real-world experience and success. - Coach Felecia Killings, author of Black Homeschooling: The Conscious Black Conservative Response to an Overtly Racist Progressive System (2024)
Across the country, more and more Black Homeschool Families are giving credence to what can best be described as an authentic, grassroots Black Education Movement.
Organizations like the National Black Home Educators seek to provide Black parents the support and resources needed to launch their own local homeschool programs. According to their site, “The goal of this organization is ultimately to see strong families with healthy parent-child relationships. We believe that every child deserves a world class education. This organization believes that these goals can be achieved through parent directed education. We are bringing the rich heritage of the Black experience to the homeschooling community worldwide.”
Within The Felecia Killings Foundation, we are launching a new branch called My Beloved Girls, which provides our Beloved homeschool parents the resources they need to minister effectively to their creative daughters. Our online program will focus on training girls for Advanced Placement courses, online business development and entrepreneurship, and social empire development. In addition, we want our daughters to be knowledgeable about conservative politics and how best to use the political apparatus to protect what they cultivate long-term.
As Black America continues making strides to improve her communities, a conservative political presence is required to protect what they build. At the same time, as more Black men align with these politics, Black women will consider how these same policies will enhance the well-being of their children. This is how The Foundation will show up this next round. This is how we build the Conservative Alliance. This is how we break the back of Progressivism so our nation thrives. And this is how we win. Until next time, Beloved, be blessed. And as always, let’s grow together!

Become a Monthly Beloved Partner and Help Sponsor the Conscious Conservative MovementThe Felecia Killings Foundation and the Conscious Conservative Movement brought the power of Conscious Conservatism to Black residents during Georgia's 2022 midterms and laid the ground work for building the Conservative Alliance. Our work helped deliver a solid victory for conservatism, and we are ready to empower a new breed of CCM leaders for nationwide Black Outreach in time for the 2024 presidential election and beyond.
In January 2019, Coach Felecia Killings launched the Conscious Conservative Movement with a mission to bridge the gap between Conservatives and Black American voters. Since its inception, our work and message have reached the heights of Washington D.C. Coach Felecia has been featured on major independent and mainstream outlets, including Red State and FOX News, generating millions of views on our national work. Our core principles focus on building social, political, and economic empires based on Kingdom values. And we demonstrate how this power can manifest itself when we learn to do things God's way. This is how we get His results. In February 2022, we expanded our Movement into the offline space by engaging in effective outreach in Atlanta, GA. Our goal was to spread the message of Conscious Conservatism, to sell conservative politics to Black voters, and to improve social, political, and economic literacy through our weekly outreach and evangelism. Our Movement is committed to bringing an empowering, educational experience to men, women, and children in communities suffering from Progressivism’s destruction. By equipping the heart and mind of each person, we will help communities transform from the inside out. And we will complete this mission by equipping a new breed of Conscious Conservative Leaders who are not afraid to engage in Black communities nationwide. The Conscious Conservative Movement is comprised of men and women from across the nation who are bringing the empowering message to their communities. Our grassroots work has successfully helped thousands of citizens understand the benefits of conservative politics, which helps increase support for conservative candidates running in various elections. Our CCM leaders will host local chapters, provide engaging insight regarding today's politics, and show Black voters why now's the time to secure political tangibles using conservative politics. Your contributions help sponsor our annual events, our monthly leadership training, and our online and offline evangelism efforts. Education, empowerment, and fellowship have been key factors to our success. We not only deliver insight to Black voters, but more importantly, we teach Conservatives how to break down the racial barriers and expand the tent with fellow Americans who want to remove Progressivism's stronghold. As a Beloved Partner, you will receive:
