I preach this message all day, every day in Twitter Class: The law of sowing and reaping is always in effect.
It seems the more I preach this message, the more Conservatives double-down on their destructive rhetoric. And it never fails: the law of sowing and reaping comes back to smack us into reality.
Months ago, fellow Conscious Ones and I blasted Conservatives for their celebratory statements surrounding "Stop and Frisk." I wrote an extensive piece on this a while ago, especially as Mike Bloomberg came under fire for the destructive policy he implemented years ago.
At the time, the Conservative camp made excuses as to why Black Americans should have their rights violated. Their responses were disgusting:
They had the audacity to double down on their rhetoric, even pulling support from their favorite Black Conservative pundits.
Imagine: A platform that preaches about the need to preserve the Constitution now arguing that certain fellow Americans should have their rights stripped on the basis of race.
(I guess those colorblind shades got lost in the shuffle somewhere.)
Well, like a rushing, mighty wind, the Law of Sowing and Reaping swooped in to bring Conservatives a healthy dose of Karma. She came to remind Conservatives that when you celebrate the violation of rights for a group of Americans, you can expect your rights to be violated next!
And that's what I want to tackle in this week's Conscious Conservative post.
Political Empires | The GOP Continues Suppressing Minority Voters' Rights Amid the National Pandemic
Just when we think Republicans can't get any worse, the GOP manages to show its ignorance in the midst of a national pandemic.
This morning on Twitter, I came across an article that highlighted Republicans' fear of allowing mail-in ballots. You can digest the full nonsense here. In response to the pandemic, Americans have been forced to stay home, even during the primaries. In response, Republicans were asked to postpone the primaries, which was rejected.
To address the matter and concern, Democrats suggested mail-in votes to ensure a strong turnout. While they rejected stalling the election, they supported votes-by-mail, which would empower every voter during this time.
Turns out, Republicans refused such initiative. Why, you ask?
Because they will lose.
Let's read from the horses' mouths themselves: “[Mail-in votes] will be extremely devastating to Republicans and conservatives in Georgia,” Ralston, a Republican from Blue Ridge, said during an interview with FetchYourNews, a North Georgia news site. “Every registered voter is going to get one of these. … This will certainly drive up turnout.” (Source)
Imagine forcing voters to stay home because of the pandemic; and then preventing voters from exercising their right to vote by opposing mail-ins because they fear losing.
This is the current GOP, and I have nothing but pure fire to throw against them.
For a Party that professes to be "the Party that freed the slaves," they sure have no problem curtailing Black people's Constitutional rights right now!
