Around that same time, I learned about online writing, blogging, content marketing, and more. Within a few weeks of submitting my resume and work samples to a start up educational company, I secured a freelance curriculum design contract, which paid me nearly the same amount of money I earned in the traditional workforce. At that point, I realized the power of the virtual market. And by setting up an online business (a website and blog), I secured other virtual contracts that gave me the financial freedom to do what I needed, even as a single mother. But how you package that knowledge will be crucial. Self-publishing is now one of the most viable career options for women, because it positions you in the market as the go-to expert for a particular niche.
