Bless the Moms to Bless the Babies ...
Since June 2020, The Felecia Killings Foundation has successfully helped 9 single mothers, including a new mother, Amberly, whose baby was in NICU. Each month, we sent her donations to help offset grocery costs and any other immediate financial needs she had.
"Thank you all again for your donations. I don't know how I would've gotten back and forth to the medical center without it." - Amberly
Our donations did more than pay for a tiny bill here or there. They gave Amberly the faith to believe that God heard her prayers, and He was working through an organization like The Felecia Killings Foundation, which would be a major support to mothers like her.
Months after receiving our financial blessings, Amberly and her new baby, Xenia, returned home. Today, Xenia is growing stronger and stronger. And The Foundation looks forward to both mother and daughter joining our communal living program in Atlanta, GA in 2021.
A Lesson on Narratives ...
Over the years, I've taught Beloved Conservatives why relying on talking points to address social phenomena is dangerous to our outreach.
Conservatives, by and large, rely on their media (like FOX News) to teach them about "Black Culture" or the "Black Family." They push narratives they find on platforms like Wikipedia (I laughed out loud when I wrote that source), which states, "As of 2015, at 77.3%, black Americans have the highest rate of non-marital births among native Americans."
These data paint an image of Black men and women in the most negative light, because these numbers NEVER take into account the nuances Black communities have within our societies.
On one hand, Conservatives observing these data come to believe Black men are completely absent from a Black child's life. On the other hand, Conservatives come to believe Black women are sexually deviant and want more children so they can collect more welfare checks.
You can imagine how much fire I had to throw at the base for allowing progressive data and conservative media to make them believe such nonsense.
And over time, through my daily teachings (and the collective work of fellow Black Conservative Influencers), Beloved Conservatives are finally rejecting the lies told to them.
A Mother's Cry ...
Late one evening, while engaging in Twitter Class, I saw my name tagged in a tweet from a single Black mother.
She desperately pleaded, "Felecia, can you help me by donating to my GoFundMe to get a house?" She was facing an eviction, had only a couple days to vacate, and all her resources were depleting. No one would contribute to her campaign, and she wanted an influencer's voice to help.
When I saw the tweet, my instant thought was, I don't even have a house of my own. How can I help another mother get one?
But I went to the Holy Spirit for an answer to this mother's need.
I responded publicly, "I don't have funds to contribute towards that effort. But I can give you a word. Tonight, whatever the Holy Spirit tells you to do, do it. No matter how strange the answer, obey His instructions."
She replied with gratitude and assured me she would obey.
A couple hours later, I reached out to her again by DM. I told her that while I couldn't contribute to her housing initiative, I would ask the Beloved Tribe to raise money to help with groceries.
I asked, "How much do you need this week to feed you and your babies?"
She replied, "Not much ... I guess $30-$40."
I then told her that I would put out the request and would connect with her again the following morning.
After presenting the call-to-action to the Beloved Tribe that night, we raised more than $250 via Twitter within hours. The next day, I asked the mother for her PayPal account, sent her $100, and told her, "The Lord always hears your prayers. Stay encouraged, Beloved."
I wanted this mother to know this truth: When you call upon the Lord, He will answer and provide more than what you ask. It's one of the reasons I sent her 3X what she requested, because we serve a God of more than enough.
Upon receiving the Grocery Blessing, she sent me this message: "I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart!!! I am in tears! It's been looking bleak and this renewed my faith. Thank you so much!!"
Within weeks of this grocery blessing, Tasha and her children were in their new home. Our small grocery blessing gave her the faith to believe God for the impossible.
And over the course of four more months, we continued to send a grocery blessing to Tasha as she settled in her new dwellings.
KillingsVille Stories | How This Black Conservative Leader Rebuilt Her Life After Life Tried to Cancel Her
A Personal Story ...
Back in 2016, I made a risky decision to leave a tumultuous situation to create a better lifestyle for me and my daughter. I packed my limited belongings and moved to Sacramento, CA -- where I had no family, no car, no friends, no employment, and no housing.
With a couple thousand dollars in my account, I quickly found my resources depleting. And because public housing took so long to acquire, I thought of another method to secure a permanent home.
I turned to Craigslist and listed an ad in search of a room to rent in the local area. Within a couple hours, another mother responded to my ad, offering me 2 bedrooms and a private bathroom for $600/month in a brand new home.
I took the deal, moved in immediately, and began my new journey with my toddler.
Once I secured permanent housing, I made the choice to homeschool my daughter; but this choice required I work from home as well. So, I set up my website, hopped on freelance writing platforms, and began promoting my editing and writing services to entrepreneurs.
Without prior experience, I learned to market my services, which resulted in $100,000+ in revenue over a three-year period. This income enabled me to live freely while being a full-time mother and business owner.
After introducing the concept to other women struggling financially in Sacramento, I convinced them to partake in this "communal living arrangement."
We combined our resources and used my brain power to help them start their own business or acquire new job positions. I worked directly with other women to help them publish their books and expand their virtual ministries. And because of the communal support, each woman grew spiritually, emotionally, and financially.
Since 2016, I have become an award-winning writing coach, the founder and creator of an online publishing school, and a conservative voice in the political sphere. My influence has now reached the heights of Washington D.C., and it continues to grow. Today, I have learned to position my business and virtual ministry to reach the millions.
But none of this would have been possible had it not been for my unique idea to leverage communal living arrangements.
