Welcome to The Write Conservative Success Stories Series.
I am Coach Felecia Killings, Founder and CEO of The Felecia Killings Foundation and The Write Conservative Book Publishing Program.
These guides are designed to give you a behind-the-scenes look at how we're teaching aspiring authors to take their hard stories and write them in book format.
The Write Conservative is a one-to-one coaching program that I conduct with new authors online. By the end of their 4-week training, they will be a published author through The Foundation and will know how to use their books to open other doors of opportunity.
In this guide, you will see how my client, Nicole Pinkston, takes her hard story and describes how she overcame fear to become the woman, wife, and mother she is today.
I know you will love her story.
Now come witness the process of putting her book together.
About Nicole Pinkston
Nicole Pinkston is a Podcaster, Author, and Content Creator within The Felecia Killings Foundation and the Conscious Conservative Movement. She is also the Media Manager for Coach Felecia Killings and her Conscious Conservative Media Network.
She is a wife, mother, and homeschool parent.
Her first published book is called Breaking Fear.
Session 1: Laying the Foundation for Nicole's Authorship
During session one, I taught Nicole about the importance of laying the foundation for her authorship.
This teaching included identifying her vision, articulating her mission statement, identifying her ideal reader, deciding which hard story is best for her first book, and determining the 5 lessons she learned from the experience.
When constructing a book, most new authors, especially those who do not hire a coach, write their story from a chronological perspective.
But to be most creative, I teach my clients to open their story based on the exact mission and message God called them to deliver.
Come see how Nicole and I made this work.
Session 2: Constructing the First 2 Chapters of Nicole's Manuscript
During this session, I taught Nicole how to develop the "meat" of her book, namely the first 2 chapters of the manuscript.
We determined why these chapters should be arranged as such.
And I urged her to keep her reader in mind as she constructed the book.
When writing your manuscript, it's important to have some direction. Some writers will create outlines or use other graphic organizers to frame their thoughts.
All methods work. But keep in mind, the purpose of each chapter is to keep the reader reading. That means you are responsible for captivating your reader's attention and holding it so tightly, she will not want to put the book down.
If you struggle in this area, my writing coach services will help you just as they helped Nicole.
Come see how I made this work for her.
Session 3: Constructing the Remaining 3 Chapters of Nicole's Manuscript
New authors who enroll in The Write Conservative will have their books published through The Foundation.
As such, we have strict guidelines for each writer, including packaging their story in five chapters and restricting their word count to 10K-15K words.
And we do this for a few reasons:
And that's the same lesson I taught Nicole.
Come see how we put it all together.
Session 4: The Wrap-Up and Next Steps
By the end of our final coaching session, Nicole has completed and submitted her manuscript to The Foundation.
She successfully wrote her book in less than 4 weeks. At this point, the manuscript runs through our publishing process, which includes content editing, proofreading, book layout, and book upload to The Foundation's website for sale.
During this final session, we discussed her next steps, which included a breakdown of the 2nd program she will enter called From A-Z of Writerpreneurship: Helping Published Authors Build an Online Business and Niche Social Network Around Their Authorship.
When it comes to my clients, I want them to see their book as a key that opens more doors of opportunity.
These opportunities can include speaking engagements, mainstream media appearances, becoming a successful online coach, and much more!
I teach my author-clients never to focus on book sales alone but to consider how their books can bring them before an audience that's willing to hire them for their expert services.
Watch our final discussion.
Then join us for another round of coaching sessions as Nicole dives into From A-Z of Writerpreneurship.
