Greetings Beloved,
Have you ever visited a church and thought to yourself, This place is not for me.
If so, you're not alone.
Every ministry has its own personality; and what may work for one Believer may not work for others.
In this Empowering Post, I want to teach you about the value of positioning your virtual ministry for a specific type of follower.
While you may think your work is fitting for every person, in truth, it will attract (and repel) people, and this is a good thing!

Knowing Who You're Called to Serve
I want to begin this teaching with an analysis of Jesus' earthly ministry.
While ministering to the people, He focused His attention on the Jews or the "lost sheep of Israel." Even while outsiders pleaded with Jesus to bring healing and deliverance to them, He remained fixed on the people He was called to serve.
Let's examine this in Matthew 15.
While ministering to the people, He focused His attention on the Jews or the "lost sheep of Israel." Even while outsiders pleaded with Jesus to bring healing and deliverance to them, He remained fixed on the people He was called to serve.
Let's examine this in Matthew 15.
After leaving there, Jesus withdrew to the district of Tyre and Sidon. And a Canaanite woman from that district came out and began to cry out [urgently], saying, 'Have mercy on me, O Lord, Son of David (Messiah); my daughter is cruelly possessed by a demon.' But He did not say a word in answer to her. And His disciples came and asked Him [repeatedly], 'Send her away, because she keeps shouting out after us.' He answered, 'I was commissioned by God and sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.' But she came and began to kneel down before Him, saying, 'Lord, help me!' And He replied, 'It is not good (appropriate, fair) to take the children’s bread and throw it to the pet dogs.' She said, 'Yes, Lord; but even the pet dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their [young] masters’ table.' Then Jesus answered her, 'Woman, your faith [your personal trust and confidence in My power] is great; it will be done for you as you wish.' And her daughter was healed from that moment. (Matthew 15:21-28 AMP)
We know from various Scriptures, Jesus spoke often about salvation coming to the Jews.
He did not come to the Gentiles. He was specific in His assignment, because He knew the Gospel message would eventually spread to the world through His followers.
Paul had a similar focus. While he initially tried to reach the Jews, his ministry eventually focused on the Gentiles. The epistles he wrote became the catalyst for building the Church's foundation as we know it today.
Both Jesus and Paul were clear in their assignment.
And so must you, Beloved.
As a new virtual ministry leader, it's important to know you are not called to minister to the entire world.
Your work will have a specific focus; and while your message will pull from the same source as every true Believer, God will send people your way who can receive from someone just like you.

How to Identify Your Reader, Consumer, and Virtual Ministry Follower
When working with my clients, one of the first lessons I teach is, "You are not called to minister to everyone. Your books and ministry will focus on one type of person. Know who that person is, for there will be thousands more just like him or her."
In the business world, we call this "niching down." In other words, we teach why one of the best ways to differentiate yourself in this crowded space is to focus on a segment within the general population, and create content, services, and products that solve that segment's problems.
For example, back in 2016 when I started taking my business and ministry seriously, I focused my attention on Christian authors and speakers. I created an educational platform and school that helped each one thrive in their venture.
When other people observed my work, some asked if I'd be willing to work with those outside my niche (of Christian publishing). Nine times out of 10, my response was "no," because I wanted to be known in this virtual space as the Christian Writerpreneurs' Coach.
I identified this niche or market by locating a problem that needed solving. I knew God had anointed writers in the earth who could help spread His message. But such folks knew little about thriving in their calling. Many of them wanted to know how to generate wealth using their gifts, because they wanted to commit to their work of ministry full-time.
In response to this need, I developed My Beloved Women's Ministry and Business School, which functions as the spiritual and practical training ground for new and seasoned Authors, Speakers, and Ministry Leaders.
And just as I identified a need in the market, I teach my clients and students to do the same.
When it comes to walking in your calling and creating your virtual ministry (which is a business), you must identify the EXACT people you are called to serve. One of the easiest ways to start this process is by examining the story you will use as the center for your work.
In other words, your life's experience will often indicate the people you are called to serve. For example, if you've been sexually assaulted and God brought healing and restoration to you, perhaps you're called to minister to other women in that situation.
Maybe you're a single mother who learned how to navigate this world without government assistance. Your ideal readers, consumers, and ministry followers will be other single mothers.
Even if other ministry leaders are tackling the same issue you want to address in your work, no one can reach everyone.
It will be your unique proposition -- your virtual thumbprint -- that will set you a part from others.

Your Virtual Ministry Should NOT Look Like the Rest
One of the challenges confronting my clients is their fear of standing out in the crowd. Sometimes they worry their ministry will not be as big or successful as The Foundation or that of others. Sometimes they feel the need to replicate another ministry's brand, and that's when I step in and tell them, "No, we need to see you, not a ministry copy cat."
I want to make this point clear: your virtual ministry should NEVER look like the rest. You have a unique calling and mission. You have a unique brand and reputation. You are an individual, and this is what the virtual space needs to see.
When it comes to my brand, I make a point not to fit within the confines of people's expectations. For example, as you may know, a part of The Foundation includes discussing Black Conservatism. Back in 2018, this national conservative movement (led primarily by Millennials) began reaching mainstream audiences. My name and that of others started gaining more attention.
As our followings grew to millions, I noticed people (mostly White Conservatives) tried to box all Black Conservatives -- especially the women -- into a controlled think tank by which we would be forced to say what they wanted to hear.
But my message could not be contained to man-made confines.
So, I purposely promoted a brand and virtual ministry distinct from other Black Conservatives. I called my work The Conscious Conservative Movement; and in doing so, those who were destined to remain associated with The Foundation stayed.
In like manner, you will find your virtual ministry does not look like the rest, and that's a good thing! When people discover that your ministry is different -- that you're willing to do things unconventionally -- they will appreciate your work much more than if you tried to replicate another's work.

Understanding the Importance of Branding
When building your new virtual ministry, branding is crucial. Inside My Beloved Women's Ministry and Business School, I teach my clients that their brand is essentially their online reputation. It’s how the market differentiates their works from the rest.
Now, quite often, my clients wonder how their works will stand out, especially when many of them write about topics that have already been discussed. In such cases, I teach them that while the message may be similar, their unique experience gives their works a different flare.
To give a more definitive understanding of this concept, here is my program’s working definition: "Branding involves the core values, principles, and truths that characterize a virtual ministry. It entails marketing techniques that solidify an organization's reputation among a target market. It encompasses a phrase, a color scheme, a logo, a tone of voice, and a story that transforms average followers into organizational fans.’’
When considering your own brand (and its voice in the online space), you want to pinpoint the recurring message, values, and principles behind your work. You want to shape your business’s reputation around certain truths so the ideal readers are drawn to your message. And for those who are visual learners, you want to create a uniformed persona that represents your brand’s values (i.e. logos, social media images, avatars, colors, etc.)
Take The Foundation, for example. When I first launched my virtual ministry and business, my name and online reputation had previously been smeared (a story I discuss in my memoir, To My Beloveds: A Memoir of My Personal Comeback in the Aftermath of My Scandalous Story). Three years after defeating a criminal case that nearly killed me, the Holy Spirit asked me to launch a virtual Bible study to which I obliged. As I began hosting these weekly sessions on Facebook, I reclaimed my online brand and name by positioning myself as a principled woman who desired to empower others.
I also used the virtual space to teach about the call of God to write; and as my content reached new viewers, folks began seeing my platform as an empowering, professional one.
The values I hold dear and the manner in which I deliver my content all speak to my professional brand; and when readers come to my site, I maintain that presence with a sleek, welcoming design.
Now, my designs and my brand presence are deliberate. I’m purposely attracting a certain kind of reader, author, and leader. I only work with writers, speakers, and spiritual leaders who want to take their ideas to another level. I only attract individuals who have an entrepreneurial mindset, folks who value their calling and how to maximize their potential.
My brand does not attract people who want “Dollar Tree” results. (No shots to that store, because I love it!) My brand isn’t for folks who want get-rich-quick solutions.
Essentially, this is how you will need to see your own work so you craft a brand that will astound the market. Ask yourself, “How do I want to be represented in the market? How do I want to present my message? What tone or voice do I want to convey? How will my brand be represented visually? And how will my virtual ministry convey this same tone, voice, and message so it reaches the ideal audience?”

Knowing Your Brand Voice
Whenever working with rising leaders as their business or ministry coach, I teach them about creating an online brand voice that reflects their personality.
In the online business space, there are at least 5 brand voice types from which to choose:
On my platform, the Prophet and Professor voices are STRONG! (Follow me in Twitter Class to see what I mean.)
When it comes to solutions, I punch hard to awaken Conservatives out of their stupor. And when it comes to actionable strategies, I use the Professor voice to bring clarity and insight. Both voices reflect who I am in the Kingdom and the professional work I performed as a teacher.
As Beloveds have to come realize, my voice represents my personality. At times, I have to deliver “strong meat” or a prophetic word. At other times, I have to deliver that “spoonful of sugar to make the medicine go down.”
And this works for my platform.
I am true to myself and my Beloved audience.
Authenticity breeds increase.
And that’s the message I want to give you right now.
Your voice must be true in the online space. People will receive the message based on how you convey it (your voice type) and whether that voice is authentic.
For example, while the prophetic voice works for my platform, it may not be right for yours.
Don’t try to replicate another content creator’s message or voice, because the fake burns in these online fires.
But the real ones are refined by this fire.
Your message and voice are unique to your experience and what YOU have to offer the masses. As such, you must remain authentic if you desire to make an impact with your content.
In the online business space, there are at least 5 brand voice types from which to choose:
- The Journalist: This type of brand voice involves a person who is inquisitive, always seeking answers to various questions. She derives her expertise from the many interviews she conducts. And the online space comes to view her content as empowering because she brings other experts to the platform to share their lessons.
- The Prophet: Now, when I first learned about this, I was surprised this was even a brand voice type. But after all, people in business have a tendency to “borrow” spiritual terms in order to make a profit (pun completely intended). Nevertheless, “The Prophet” is a type of voice that certain business people employ. In its simplest definition, this platform involves one who tells the truth or “tells it like it is.” It usually involves someone who is dissatisfied with the status quo. She will often find a solution to a problem and push people towards solving it. There’s no fluff. No excuses. Just getting the job done. Therefore, at the center of “The Prophet” platform is the growing need to keep it real so lives can be changed immediately.
- The Artist: This type of brand voice works well for individuals who have an eye for art and graphics. A content creator’s diction will be more colorful than a Prophet’s voice. She may use fictional elements or literary devices to garner a crowd.
- The Professor: This type of voice is usually one who loves facts and data. She is a subject matter expert; and there is a strong thirst for knowledge. This person functions like a teacher and is willing to help others understand a core topic more easily.
- The Star: Think about all the reality stars who have a voice, but absolutely nothing substantial to offer us in real life (i.e. The Kardashians). Individuals like these have a very likable presence and are able to connect with people for no other reason except they are truly likable. People want to follow them because they admire their star presence. Thus, they have built a platform around this persona.

I Attract the People I Want, and I Repel Folks on Purpose...and So Should You
Within The Felecia Killings Foundation, we have multiple Spaces that help us fulfill our mission of engaging God's people in this end-time revival and national reformation.
And each Space or "ministry" has a specific target audience that will find our work fitting for their lives.
For example, My Beloved Women's Ministry emerged when I learned so many women were too afraid to walk in their calling because of their scandalous stories.
I remember the countless times I wanted to work with other Christian female bloggers, or I wanted to be a guest speaker at a women's summit; I knew they would reject me because of what the Internet said about me.
I realized in those moments that my experience was not my own.
In other words, there are millions of women feeling trapped by their stories, hiding in their caves, too afraid to emerge in their calling because they fear what other people might say about them.
As the Holy Spirit and I began developing the curriculum for this ministry, He revealed His desire to see women break free from such bondage. So, I began shifting my message and focus. Suddenly, I didn't care about Sister Never-Do-Wrong, who never drank or smoked or fornicated or had an abortion or did anything sinful in her life.
I didn't want her in my virtual ministry.
I didn't want the goody-two-shoes who never experienced extreme emotional pain and fear.
I wanted the woman sitting in the back of the church, the guilt-ridden one who fears someone will learn she sold her toddler daughter into the sex slave industry.
I wanted that woman who's singing in the choir, doing all she can to keep active in the church because she's trying to avoid going home to her abusive husband.
I wanted that woman who cut her wrist two weeks ago, but hides behind that emotional pain each time she attends the women's tea luncheon.
I wanted women with the scandalous stories, because in each one of them is the potential to take their story and turn it into a ministry of deliverance.
That is the mark of my virtual ministry, and it has done wonders to set other women free.
Now, I know My Beloved Women's Ministry won't be popular among the traditional churches. I know I won't be invited to attend most women's meetings.
I don't care, either!
If I want a meeting, I'll create one and bring women on the team who have the same zeal and passion to empower "the least of these."
I know my ministry is repulsive to many people. Jesus was repulsive to the religious people during His earthly ministry.
But I also know I'm attracting the exact women God has appointed for The Foundation; and because I know this, I am confident in this grace.
(But mark my words: ten years from now, it will become a popular thing among other ministries to embrace people with the worst stories, because they will see the evidence of the Holy Spirit's power working in them.)

Differentiating Your Virtual Ministry's Brand Using Your Unique Voice

Within My Beloved Women's Ministry, I teach our members how to differentiate their platform by creating a brand voice unique to their personality.
By brand voice, I am referring to your ability to showcase your virtual ministry's reputation using certain words.
For example, within The Foundation, our brand voice is professional, conversational, educational, and sometimes full of fire.
We want our members and readers to gain expert knowledge regarding our niche topics; but we don't want to overwhelm them with scholarly, academic rhetoric, because we understand we are working with an audience of beginners (for the most part).
Our brand voice fits perfectly within the gift of teaching I have; and if you want to differentiate your ministry from another's, then you will want to discover your brand voice as well.
Here's another example of one of God's daughters displaying her unique ministry using brand voice: Sophia Ruffin.
There aren't many young, female ministers that I follow, but I LOVE Sophia!
I first came across her virtual ministry back in 2016. She launched her platform on Facebook, and began sharing her testimony of being delivered from homosexuality.
Her raw, uncut persona could be felt in every video she posted. Her message of hope and healing hit home with her target audience: other women dealing with this struggle. And because of her loud, colorful nature, she captivated hearts nationwide. (Follow Sophia here.)
Sophia's virtual ministry is vastly different than The Foundation, even though we use the same platforms and the same marketing methods to reach our audiences (blog posts, published books, videos, etc.).
But the manner in which we convey our message (and the audience we minister to specifically) are different; and this is what makes the Body of Christ so strong.
Personally, I am ineffective in ministering directly to people caught in homosexuality. I don't know what it's like to be bound by those passions. My approach to addressing the matter might turn some people off, in fact.
But Sophia nails this area of ministry because she's experienced it.
In like manner, I can't reach the people God has called you to reach. This is what makes you such a vital member in the Body, because you have a specific audience that is ready to receive what you have to offer.
And this leads me to my final point.

Become the Go-To Virtual Minister within a Segment of the Market
Listen, I know we all want our books and products in the hands of every Believer. But that simply won't happen.
Instead, I want you to focus on being the go-to person in your niche as it relates to your empowering message. When people search for a keyword or phrase, I want them to discover your name and ministry.
Ten years from now, when the phrase "virtual ministries" and "online churches" are mentioned, my content will appear at the top of all internet searches because I'm producing content today that will empower people who are ready to launch their works.
The more content I produce around this topic (and those of our other ministries), the easier it becomes for The Foundation to draw in the crowds and new clients; and the same will happen for you.
No matter your God-given focus, create online content (blog posts, videos, etc.) related to that topic.
Share unique strategies for helping a certain type of person.
Give your personal testimonies.
Develop online courses and books related to it.
And own the space by displaying your unique gifts.
As you do this, you will start to see your ministry attracting the very people God destined for you to have. But you must be willing to put forth the effort today, because your ministry's future won't happen by luck or chance. It will manifest based on the decisions you make right now.
Beloved, if you’ve contemplated starting an online platform and virtual ministry, but you struggle to get started, you need not worry.
Today, The Felecia Killings Foundation offers an exclusive online program for rising women leaders like you who are ready to manifest your vision, starting now.
Instead, I want you to focus on being the go-to person in your niche as it relates to your empowering message. When people search for a keyword or phrase, I want them to discover your name and ministry.

Beloved, if you’ve contemplated starting an online platform and virtual ministry, but you struggle to get started, you need not worry.
Today, The Felecia Killings Foundation offers an exclusive online program for rising women leaders like you who are ready to manifest your vision, starting now.
At The Felecia Killings Foundation, we know how vital women are to the Kingdom of God.
We understand their role and position, and we empower them to function fully in their grace so their lives are changed for the better.
But often times, women encounter traumatic hardships that destroy their confidence, self-worth, and future calling. From domestically violent relationships to sexual assaults, some women struggle to rebuild their lives once they've been violated.
This is not God's purpose for His daughters.
Therefore, at The Foundation, we purpose to help these women transform from the inside out. We empower them to blossom in their calling as they build social, political, and economic empires in this new decade based on Kingdom principles.
At The Foundation, a part of our vision is to be the premier training ground for women leaders who want to manifest their greatness, no matter their hard story.
Our mission is to build a network of 1,000,000 women leaders nationwide with an exclusive, premium experience that supports each one as they fulfill God's purpose for their lives.
