Black Conservative Thought: Our Black Ancestors Were Preaching to Your Republican Ancestors Using the Same Fire We Flex Today

Solomon once said, “There is nothing new under the sun” (Ecclesiastes 1:9).

As I examine Black History from the lens of Conscious Conservatism, I find his proverb to be true.

There is nothing new under the Republican Party’s sun, for what is today has been yesterday.

And what will be tomorrow is contingent upon what happens now.
Within the Conservative Movement, we are, once again, witnessing a strong push to keep racial tensions alive.

If you follow Twitter Class, you know exactly what I mean.

Each year, like clockwork, Conservative pundits use their platforms to trash Black Americans during Black History Month.

While the rest of the nation takes time to celebrate, independent conservative media make its round to dehumanize our Black History and Black Culture.

Recently, Charlie Kirk shared a viral video of a Black male student fighting a White female student on the bus. Naturally, no context was given, so Chuck and the gang of Conservative Midwits took to Twitter to express their “colorblind” outrage.
Picture
Kirk, like the rest of independent conservative media, enjoy the racial tension that emerges from their content.

They love it.

And how do we know?

Because in a video that could easily be criticized for ongoing violence in the school systems, regardless of race, Chuck HAD to mention “Black.”

Add to it, he HAD to mention, “Happy Black History Month.”

The content suggests vile, animal-like behavior is indicative of Black History and Black Culture.

And for those of us who study messaging, marketing, and psychology, we know how words influence human behavior and interaction.

Those of us who are spiritually knowledgeable also understand, words never return void. They always accomplish what they were sent out to do.

You see, on the Right, low-ball anti-Black messaging is nothing new.

The content is specifically designed to rile up Conservatives and to point to some inherent hypocrisy they believe Black people have towards them.

But as I have said repeatedly, Black Americans are not in control of media.

We do not sit in political think tanks to devise methods to oppress White Conservatives in education, media, or the law.

Your White Progressive cousins are doing that.

They own the systems, which Black Americans have told you for decades is systemically racist.

But you defended the systems when they targeted us.

Now that the systems have you in its views, you want the nation to come to your defense.

Yet, instead of doing what’s right and partnering with Black Americans to fight Progressivism, your pundits insist you remain at war with fellow Americans.

It’s a part of the political chess board.

And you are the pawns.

Each time Progressives say or do something that is clearly antagonistic to White Conservatives, the latter don’t fight back against their own White cousins.

Oh, no!

White Conservatives turn on Black Americans, as if we aren’t also being used as a football on this political sports field.

But the base can’t see that. It can’t ascertain what’s happening to it because, for so long, Conservatives have been conditioned — by their own conservative media — to look at Black Americans as the enemy.

Not Progressivism.

Not Big Government.

Not even the same system that is currently being used against them.

Black Americans are the target of Conservatives’ disdain whenever their White Progressive cousins pop off at the mouth.

This is the political cycle your Republican Leadership has you in.

This is the hamster wheel you’re on.

And ironically, the racial hostility emerges just at the moment when Republican Leadership has stabbed you in the back.

They can use this playbook on you because it works for them.

Meanwhile, as they collect the bag from their content, you collect the throat punches in these political streets.

Add to it, you suffer election defeats year after year after year while Republican Leadership continues winning via their Alliance with Progressivism.

(That latter statement is a lesson for another day.)

There is nothing new under the Republican Party’s sun.

Centuries ago, our Black Intellectual ancestors held the same political discussions with your Republican ancestors.

Our ancestors had to check your White Republicans with the same fire as we Black Conservatives flex today.

Do you honestly think the racist battering is here simply because of Democrats and Left-wing Progressives?

I hope not, because I will laugh at you for holding such elementary thinking.

There is nothing new under the Republican Party’s sun.

And Black Intellectuals like John S. Rock (of 1858) had to check White Americans with the same fire Conscious Black Conservatives use today.

Schoolteacher, dentist, physician, lawyer, graduate of the American Medical College in Philadelphia, member of the Massachusetts bar, proficient in Greek and Latin, Dr. John S. Rock was unequivocally one of the most distinguished African American leaders to emerge in the United States during the antebellum era. On March 5, 1858, Dr. Rock delivered a speech at Boston’s Faneuil Hall as part of the annual Crispus Attucks Day observance organized by Boston’s black abolitionists in response to the Dred Scott decision. (Source)
In his speech, John stated:
The prejudice which some white men have, or affect to have, against my color gives me no pain. If any man does not fancy my color, that is his business, and I shall not meddle with it. I shall give myself no trouble because he lacks good taste. If he judges my intellectual capacity by my color, he certainly cannot expect much profundity, for it is only skin deep, and is really of no very great importance to any one but myself. I will not deny that I admire the talents and noble characters of many white men. But I cannot say that I am particularly pleased with their physical appearance. If old mother nature had held out as well as she commenced, we should, probably, have had fewer varieties in the races. When I contrast the fine tough muscular system, the beautiful, rich color, the full broad features, and the gracefully frizzled hair of the negro, with the delicate physical organization, wan color, sharp features and lank hair of the Caucasian, I am inclined to believe that when the white man was created, nature was pretty well exhausted-but determined to keep up appearances, she pinched up his features, and did the best she could under the circumstances. (Great laughter.)

I would have you understand, that I not only love my race, but am pleased with my color; and while many colored persons may feel degraded by being called negroes, and wish to be classed among other races more favored, I shall feel it my duty, my pleasure and my pride, to concentrate my feeble efforts in elevating to a fair position a race to which I am especially identified by feelings and by blood.
For John S. Rock, as for many Black Conservative Thought Leaders today, we are called intellectually inferior because of our skin color.

I can’t tell you the number of times White Conservatives in Twitter Class tried to check me about Black History when 99.99% of the base do not read books.

And yes, that type of stereotypical messaging has been present within the Republican Party for centuries.

For example, whenever new judicial appointments are made, conservative media will not hesitate to assume a non-White person is less qualified for the role simply because of their skin color.

And don’t act surprised by this notion, for we just watched Tucker Carlson repeat this debased idea in his recent segment.
Picture
And without question, these low-IQ, racist thoughts influence the base’s interactions with Black Americans.
Picture
It is worthy of repeating: There is nothing new under the Republican Party’s sun.

And what has been will continue to be unless you purposely determine to make the change.

Today, take a hard look at your Party. Step back and assess if you are willing to repeat the cycle that guarantees your defeat, ensures your political slaughtering in these streets, and puts you up against Black Americans who have never been your enemy.

The time to choose is now.

Our fight is against the ideologies that influence destructive policies.

And the only way we will break its proverbial back is when we learn to do things a better way.

God’s way.

Until next time, Beloved, be blessed.

And as always, let's grow together!

The Felecia Killings Foundation is a Conscious Conservative think tank and leadership organization. Through our research, publications, and outreach, we teach rising leaders how to activate their thought leadership in the social, political, and economic spheres.

The Conscious Conservative Movement is a branch of our organization, which helps bridge the gap between conservative politics and Black voters. Through our national work, we teach Black Americans how to access the Republican apparatus while also selling principled-based Conservative candidates who will serve on their behalf at the local, state, and federal level.

Donations to The Felecia Killings Foundation and The Conscious Conservative Movement help sponsor our research, publications, and online community workshops.

Each year, our research team engages in evangelistic efforts to develop qualitative articles based on the needs of diverse Black voters. Our research focuses on school choice, homeschooling, marriage, family, entrepreneurship, faith, and effective communication strategies for conservative evangelism.

We compile our findings in annual publications (The Conscious Conservative Collection) that help inform Conservative Leaders on how best to make political inroads with Black voters.

Our publications then serve as marketing tools that help our CCM Leaders deliver FREE online community workshops that teach Black voters how to access conservative politics that protect what they build.

The Felecia Killings Foundation, in compliance with regulations, functions as a for-profit organization that allows us the freedom to fulfill our God-given vision and mission. A significant portion of all profits covers salaries, research, publication fees, travel, online and offline outreach, and more. As a token of our appreciation for your financial support, you will receive new rewards as a Beloved Giver.
